World Eucharistic Adoration on June 2nd

Of all devotions, that of adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the greatest after the Sacraments, the one dearest to God and the one most helpful to us.
St. Alphonsus Liguori

Adoration means entering the depths of our hearts in communion with the Lord, who makes Himself bodily present in the Eucharist. In the monstrance, He always entrusts Himself to us and asks to be united with His Presence, with His risen Body.

Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI

On Sunday, June 2nd, Catholics all over the world will have the opportunity to visit their local Catholic church and participate in Eucharistic Adoration, knowing that they are among the millions who will do so at the same time.

What is Eucharistic Adoration?

Eucharistic Adoration is, quite simply, the exposition of the Eucharist for public viewing within the church.

At his last meal on the night before He died, Jesus blessed the bread and the wine and then He passed them around to his apostles. Jesus announced that when they ate the bread and drank the wine, they were partaking in his body and blood. Thus, when a priest blesses the Eucharist and the wine in an act called transubstantiation, the Eucharist literally becomes the body and the bloody of Christ.

I invite you to take some time with me to prepare for Worldwide Eucharistic Adoration this coming Sunday, June 2nd. Be reminded of the importance of Eucharist Adoration, as illustrated in this video.

What Must I do to Participate in Eucharistic Adoration?

You might want to check with your local church to see if there is a Eucharistic Procession that you can participate in. A Eucharistic procession is a procession of congregants led by the priest who holds the Monstrance containing the Eucharist The usually involves a short walk along the sidewalk or on church grounds. If there is nothing formally planned at your church, you may also:
  • Demonstrate reverence by kneeling and making a sign of the cross upon entering and leaving the chuch
  • Sit quietly while being in the presence of God
  • Seek forgiveness for transgressions from God
  • Intercede for others in conversation with God
  • Pray the Rosary offering it up for the following intentions
    •  the church and its mission of mercy;
    • for the needs of those who suffer, including victims of war, the unemployed, the sick, immigrants and prisoners.
  • Recite prayers or reflect on readings inspired during this time (i.e. Magnificat)
  • Recite the Liturgy of the Hours

This is a unique event, which has never happened before in the history of the church. I hope this is helpful to you and will encourage you to participate in this special event. See you on Sunday!

Peace of Christ,

Peter's Bride

Prayer for Mother and Child

A little baby boy born in eastern China has come into the world under the most trying of circumstances for both him and his mother, as you will learn from the video. Please join me in praying for the infant's health and for his mother.

According to the 22 year old mother, the father of the child did not want to be a parent. The young woman had considered abortion but was unable to do so due to cost (thankfully). Not having shared news of this pregnancy with her family, she continued to waitress at a restaurant. She gave birth to the six pound baby boy in her rooming house bathroom.

This is a sad story on many levels, right from the moment of conception through to birth. I ask you to pray with me for a better outcome for both mother and child. It seems to me that Saint Anne is most fitting to turn to on their behalf.

Prayer to St. Anne
(To Obtain Some Special Favor)
Glorious St. Anne, filled with compassion for those who invoke you and with love for those who suffer, heavily laden with the weight of my troubles, I cast myself at your feet and humbly beg of you to take the present affair which I recommend to you under your special protection.
Vouchsafe to recommend it to your daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and lay it before the throne of Jesus, so that He may bring it to a happy issue.
Cease not to intercede for me until my request is granted. (Here ask for favor you wish to obtain.)
Above all, obtain for me the grace of one day beholding my God face to face, and with You and Mary and all the saints, praising and blessing Him through all eternity. Amen.
Good St. Anne, mother of her who is our life, our sweetness and our hope, pray to her for us and obtain our request. (Three times).

God Bless You,

Why Pray for Humanity & To Our Lady, Help of Christians

We live in challenging times. As society continues to evolve, some would say devolve, and become more and more secular and less and less oriented to God Almighty, we face the very real possibility of falling into a God-less state.

What state is this, you ask? A society devoid of God is a society that does not recognize the dignity of human life, be it at the beginning or the end of life. Pray with me daily for a renewed faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ and for the sanctity of all human life.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~><(((O> ~~ ><(((O> ~~ ><(((O> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please join me today in offering up this prayer, written by Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI, written in honor of Our Lady, Help of Christians. This prayer is to be said today, May 24th, and every year on this date, for the people of China. Today, we pray for all Chinese, most especially Chinese Catholics.
Prayer to Our Lady of Sheshan
Virgin Most Holy, Mother of the Incarnate Word and our Mother,
venerated in the Shrine of Sheshan under the title "Help of Christians,"
the entire Church in China looks to you with devout affection.
We come before you today to implore your protection.
Look upon the People of God and, with a mother's care, guide them
along the paths of truth and love, so that they may always be
a leaven of harmonious coexistence among all citizens.
When you obediently said "yes" in the house of Nazareth,
you allowed God's eternal Son to take flesh in your virginal womb
and thus to begin in history the work of our redemption.
You willingly and generously co-operated in that work,
allowing the sword of pain to pierce your soul,
until the supreme hour of the Cross, when you kept watch on Calvary,
standing beside your Son, Who died that we might live.
From that moment, you became, in a new way,
the Mother of all those who receive your Son Jesus in faith
and choose to follow in His footsteps by taking up His Cross.
Mother of hope, in the darkness of Holy Saturday you journeyed
with unfailing trust towards the dawn of Easter.
Grant that your children may discern at all times,
even those that are darkest, the signs of God's loving presence.
Our Lady of Sheshan, sustain all those in China,
who, amid their daily trials, continue to believe, to hope, to love.
May they never be afraid to speak of Jesus to the world,
and of the world to Jesus.
In the statue overlooking the Shrine you lift your Son on high,
offering him to the world with open arms in a gesture of love.
Peace of Christ,
Peter's Bride
Encountering Faith
I had an encounter a few days ago.
My husband and I were at the local coffee shop where we were having a quick breakfast before driving to the airport. A gentleman across from us noticed that we had said grace and made a sign of the cross before eating and he commented, touching his heart as he spoke.
My husband and I made polite conversation, but were anxious to eat quickly as we were leaving shortly for the two hour drive.
The man, in his 70's, had lost his son just days before to a drug overdose. As he proceeded to share his grief, some tears escaped and rolled down his face.
It just so happened that today, while my mother and I were at another coffee shop, this same man came up to me and thanked me for our chance encounter a few days before. Believe me, I did not do any acts of heroism other than to let the man speak. I just listened.
But, I guess that is what he needed.
Today, I learned just how important encounters are. However brief an encounter is, it can make all the difference to someone.
The grieving father mentioned today that he found yet another poem his son had written. It was about being in a crowd of people and, yet, feeling very alone. It seemed that he was searching for an encounter, an experience that would change his life and lead him away from the path of destruction he was on.
Encountering others seems to be a theme today as I listened to Pope Francis speak of his own encounter that, no doubt, began his journey to the seat of St. Peter.
I invite to watch this wonderful reflection of Pope Francis.
God bless you.
As always,
Peter's Bride
Prayers in the Wake of Distater
No doubt you have already seen the pictures of Moore, Oklahoma. Mangled steel from building and vehicle. Heaps of rubble where houses once stood.
Please join me in praying for the families who are missing loved ones at this time, most especially for the children not yet accounted for at what was once an elementary school.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On Earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen
Peace of Christ,
Peter's Bride
